Weekly Bulletin

Good morning Ladies
It is cold this morning and it is hard to think about golf but you are all on my mind.
I want to remind our members and tell our new members about our "TOYS FOR TOTS" collection. We will be doing it again this year and Jan Skaggs is doing the collecting. You may drop off any new toys that you want to give to this worthwhile cause at Jan's house. Her address is 13 Longrale Park #C, Bangor. This is actually on Union Street. Jan has been doing this for many years and lets make this another great year for the kids. Thank you so much.
For those of you that like to plan ahead please put May 7, 2007 on your calendar for our spring meeting. The time and place will be sent out later in the spring. Please pass this date on to any potential new members and to your friend that doesn't have e-mail.
I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and don't eat too much because you most likely won't be out on the links to work it off.
Have a great winter whether you are in the sunny south or still here in Maine.
Sandy Meehan President

Hi Ladies
We have set the date for the banquet and do to the availability of the room at the Muddy Rudder we will be having it on September 28th, a Thursday. We will also order off of the menu, because we get separate checks it doesn't matter as for the time it takes to get our meals. We will have a Happy Hour starting at 5:30 PM and order about 6:15.
I will post a sign-up sheet in the locker room and you may also e-mail me as to whether you will be attending. Please respond by September 24th. Thank you.
I hope that we will see most of you at the banquet. For those of you that will have already gone south, we will miss you, please have a great winter and happy golfing in the sunny, warm south.
Thursday, Sept.7th is our last shot gun at 8:00 AM. After that we will go to a 9:00 AM shot gun and as long as 8 (eight) ladies show to play we will have a tournament. We will determine what we play that morning.
I was pleased to see 24 ladies there this morning. It was fun and a gorgeous day for golf.
Don't forget to let me know about the banquet.

Hi Ladies
First, I want to apologize for the mix-up in our "By the Numbers" tournament. I guess when you fool with numbers you better know what you are doing! We have come up with a way to dispurse the prizes and to make it fair for everyone. I want to thank Rachel for all the time and devotion she put into this on Thursday evening. Everybody that played had their name put into a hat and Rachel's husband drew the names out and the winners of the Megabucks tickets are Geri Halkett and Sue Stacey. The winners of the scratch off tickets are Kathy Constantine, Gwen Archambault, Lill Wark and Jeannette McCurdy. The winners of the Powerball tickets are Rita Stimpson and Andrea Lee. Congratulations to all and Good Luck!
Just a short update of the meeting. Things in general are going well. I think we are all getting very excited about the "Tee Cup". Marilyn has ordered our shirts. We had a discussion about wearing the same color shorts. The majority have agreed to wear either black or navy, please do not feel that you have to go purchase these colors if you don't have them.
Here are some of the details for the Tee Cup. The first day at PVCC is an 8:00 am shot gun. Please be there early for pictures and game details.
Format of play:
PVCC Front Nine: Partner scramble
PVCC Back Nine: Best Ball of 2
Bangor Front Nine: Alternate shot
Bangor Back Nine: Individual match play
Awards and Prizes: we are keeping this simple. The winning team gets "Bragging Rights" and a trophy to be displayed in the locker room. Each player will receive a momentum from each club.
This is guaranteed to be a fun time ! ! !
The results from Thursday's play on the Kelley nine are as follows:
Gross
1st Sue Stacey 90 $24.00
2nd Sandy Meehan 92 $18.00
3rd Cynthia Moore 93 $12.00
4th Janice White 96 $6.00
Net
1st Rita Stimpson 67 $24.00
2nd Darlene Henderson 68 $18.00 *
3rd Mary Crawford 68 $12.00 *

I just noticed that it should be a tie for 2nd & 3rd net. I will check
with Brian.
Looking forward to seeing a good turn out for play on Thursday. Good luck to
all for the first round of the Club Championship.
Hit them long and straight.

Good morning ladies
There are two important dates that I want to remind you of:
#1 Anyone planning on going to our away day on July 20th,
Searsport Pines Golf Course, must be signed up and paid for by July 13th. Makes
checks payable to Kathy Constantine ($39.00) they may be left at anytime with
Brian or give them to Sandy Meehan on Ladies Day the 13th.
#2 Anyone that is planning in playing in the "Tee Cup"
Tournament, Aug. 16th and 17th, must be signed up and paid for by July 14th.
Make these checks payable ($65.00) to Brenda Crosby. They may also be dropped
off with Brian or given to Sandy on Thursday.
These dead lines are going to hold true because of the amount of
planning that will take place between next week and the day of each event. Look
at your calendars and plan ahead.
Hope you all can make both events. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi Ladies Next week's tournament listed on the schedule is President's Cup. Please, do not panick!!! Everyone should sign-up the same as we do for every week. The pairings will be done randomly, just like every other week, the only difference is that the tournament is Match Play.
Match Play - means that you will play your opponent using handicaps. Play is on an equal basis when you use handicaps.
Example: Sandy Meehan plays Jean Sweetser. Sandy's handicap is 21 and Jean is 9. That means that Jean has to give me 12 strokes. The strokes appear on the card according to the handicap numbered holes. So, when you look at the score card - Sandy would get 1 stroke on hole # 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,12,13,15,17,18 = this equals the 12 strokes.
If on hole #1 Jean gets a 4 and Sandy gets a 5 the hole is halved, onto the next hole. Hole # 2 Jean gets a 5 and Sandy gets a 5 Sandy wins the hole because of her stroke. Now the match is Sandy is up by 1. You continue the match in this manner and when one person is ahead enough holes that the opponent can not beat her then the match has ended and the person winning the most holes wins and moves on.
This might all seem confusing for those of you not familiar with Match Play but when you see your scorecard with the strokes on it, it will be easier to understand. Cards will be all set-up for you.
Remember: the Ryder Cup with PVCC , when you play head to head it will be Match Play.
I encourage you all, especially if you plan on doing the Ryder Cup, to play next Thursday. If there is someone that cannot play next Thursday and wants to play this tournament please let Janice or Mary know and we will try to set you up for another day before June 29th.
Match Play is so much fun because if you have a real bad hole you can move on and forget about it.
Sandy
Good morning Ladies I hope that you are all dried out and that your webbed feet are back to normal. I want to thank the brave 24 players that waded their way around the Bangor Muni Pond.
A few reminders before I give you the results: Please be at the course on Thursday mornings by 7:45 AM so everyone, including our tournament committee, can be ready and on the tee at 8:00. Thank you!
We have our June meeting in 2 weeks and have a theme day for it. I will send out information on that as soon as I get any details. The theme is Survivor.
Results from Thursday, June 15 - "Tee to Green"
1st - Kathy Constantine 34 2nd - Kathy Anderson - 40 3rd - Jean Sweetser - 41 4th - Yukiko Bigney - 42 5th - Pam Kropp-Anderson - 42
PINS #3 - Pam Kropp-Anderson 21' 4" #6 - MaryLee MacIntosh - 9' 2" #11 - Sandy Meehan - 38' 9" #16 - Sandy Meehan - 38' 6"
Sorry, I don't know how much you won but Congratulations to all.

Hi Ladies
Happy Hump Day!
Just a short quiz to get you started this morning.
1. What is "Hump Day"?
2. What does 8:00 AM Shot Gun mean?
3. What is our web site address?
4. Why do you need to put our web site address into your FAVORITES?
CLICK HERE get the answers. Hope you all get 100!
1. Hump Day just means that it is Wednesday.
2. 8:00 AM Shot Gun means that you need to be on the tee box and ready to play at 8:00 AM. So I am asking each and every one of you to allow yourself enough time to accomplish this.
3. www.liz44.com
4. This is where I post any and all messages as well as the results each week. It is a great web site and there is so much info on it as well as fun to check out. You might even see your name on the birdie tree or in the results column.
Did you get 100?
Hope to see you tomorrow, please pray for a nice day.

Hello Ladies
We had a great turnout this morning for our weekly tournament, 19 ladies played and 5 are new to our club this year.
The meeting part went well and I will just highlight what is important and the dates you might want to put on your calendar.
August 3rd and August 10th we will play the scheduled tournament and your scores will also count for the Club Championship. Everyone is automatically entered into this tournament through your $30.00 dues. The tournament will be flighted so there will be an over all Club Champion, a division B winner and a division C winner.
August 16 & 17 is our Ryder Cup with Penobscot Valley Golf Club. On the 16th (Wed.) we play at PVCC and the 17th ( Thurs.) at Bangor. The entry fee (hasn't been set yet) will include two 18 holes of golf, 2 luncheons and some prizes. We also hope to buy a logo shirt for our team. More information will be coming later.
Monthly Meeting Theme Days - need a volunteer or volunteers for the month of July and August. You will have a $100.00 budget to work with, you name the type of tournament played and what the dress of the day will be. These have been a lot of fun in the past and I hope that we can continue this tradition.
Brenda Crosby and I attended the USGA Handicap Certification seminar this week. We want to emphasize why it is important to post all your scores, the game of golf is based on the honor system and your handicap allows you to compete with any golfer. This tool is used to compare you to any other golfer. We are asking you to post your own scores after play on Thursday so you will get used to posting your own scores no matter when you play and where. If you need help with this I am more then happy to show you how. You must also use the "Equitable Stroke Control", this means you need to cleanse your score card before posting your score. The following chart is used:
Course Handicap Maximum Number on any Hole
9 or less Double Bogey 10 through 19 7 20 through 29 8 30 through 39 9 40 or more 10
This chart is posted in the locker room as well as on the bulletin board next to the computer where scores are posted.
Any women that go away for the winter months, if your course does not have the GHIN System, then you must bring back all your scores and post them in Bangor.
Just a reminder weekly tournaments, sign up before Tuesday night at 5:00 PM sign up in locker room e-mail Janice white - whitedjs@verizon.net call Janice - 942-2436 e-mail Mary Crawford - himary@verizon.net call Mary - 947-0812
Logo shirt samples will be available next Thursday for you to place an order. We will take orders up to June 15th.
Hope to see you all again next week, June 1st. Let's hope for good weather.

It was great to see all the Ladies at the Spring Meeting. I want to thank Sandy for promoting the web site. I enjoy being the webmaster for the club. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am always looking for new ideas.
The members section is password protected. This is so your information won't come up in a web search using search engines as google, yahoo and msn. Email me for the password.
Do any of you have a web page you like to promote? I would like to start a list of links. For example click here

I just wanted to let everyone know there will be another
Anderson on the
Bangor Women's Golf Club roster..well Kropp-Anderson anyway. I would not
dare to tread too much on Mrs. Kathy Anderson's turf. Last weekend Alan and
I, accompanied by a small group of family and friends, were married in Las
Vegas. No Elvis impersonators were involved.
I hope this information will provide much relief to many of the
"mother
hens" who have been concerned about my lengthy "single" status.
See you on the course!

Hi
Everyone,
I wanted to give you an update on the Tee Cup which
will be played rain or shine on Aug. 16 & 17. I have all the pairings
done and we are putting the finishing touches on the details.
I would encourage all of you to attend this Thursday
ladies day. After golf, I will have your logo shirts to hand out,
pairings, as well as other details and format for play. If you cannot play
or there is inclement weather on Thurs....try to come around 1:00 in the grille.
We are scheduled to begin on Wed. Aug. 16 at PVCC.
We would like you there at 7:15 for registration. There will be light
refreshments available. At 7:50, we will be having group photos.
Don't forget to wear your logo shirt and dark shorts. Our scheduled shot
gun start is at 8:00.
Following play we are being treated to a luncheon as we watch the results of the
first day of play.
The format of play for the first day will be explained
this Thursday and again on that day. We will start with a scramble of 2
players recording the score at the end of the hole. On your scorecard, you
will compare to PVCC score and either win the hole (+1), tie the hole (0), or
lose the hole (-1). AT the end of nine holes, the team that has won the
most holes wins 1 point for our team. The back nine you will play your own
ball and record the best score of the two. All of this is being done using your
handicap. AT the end of the back nine, you will once again determine who
has won the most holes, and determine who wins the point. If it is a tie,
you win 1/2 pt. The twosome that won the most overall points, also gets a
point. Each foursome records their points as they come in to determine who
is in the lead going into Thursday's match.
As you can imagine, making the pairings has taken time,
and it is very imperative that your plans do not change. Any changes must
be submitted directly to me. I realize that unexpected things come up, but
do hope that everyone that signed up will be there ready to play both days.
I can't wait for this big event. We hope to get
some publicity for this. The shirts look great and we will be a MIGHTY
force to contend with!!!! Let's Go For The Cup!!!!!
