President's Message:

Also the end of the active season for posting scores played in Maine is
Oct. 23rd.   (Please, pass this date on to your club members)  Handicaps
will be updated once more on Oct. 26th.  So any rounds played in Maine
after the 23rd...do not post.   If you go to another state that is still
in its active season and play golf, those scores should be posted.  To see
what the active season is for any state, go to [ http://www.ghin.com
]www.ghin.com.  On the left you will see Revision Schedule, click on that
and all states are there!!

Good afternoon Ladies

What a gorgeous day today, sorry some of you couldn't be with us. We had a great time with "Sponge Bob", if you didn't play you will have to ask someone who did, who "Sponge Bob" was. He sure added excitement to our day. Overall, I hope that you all enjoyed the "Harvest Ball" Tournament.

I am sending this message out because there are a few updates that you all need to know.
Starting next Thursday, the 24th, tee off time will be 9:00am. We will still shot gun.

Please, do not call Mary to sign up or cancel, there is no more signing up this year.

Anyone interested in playing on a Thursday just come and if there are four or more we can throw money in and play gross and net, if there are 8 or more we will do closest to the pin.

Banquet information: Captain Nick's, Monday, October 1 at 5:30 pm for cocktails and ordering at 6:15.

Part of the agenda for the meeting is to vote on the charities we want to receive our (Putt Jar money). I am going to recommend Spruce Run and Manna - in memory of Paul Amato. We will pass the hat so anyone who wishes can add to these donations.

We also give money to Brian, Rob and Cheryl. In the past some ladies did not think that we compensated them enough so we will pass the hat for them also. Any extra money collected will be divided equally three ways.

As of today we had 37 members signed up for the banquet, if you did not sign up it is not too late. Just drop me an e-mail or call me 989-2108.

If I don't see you on Thursday I will see you at the banquet.

Sandy

Just a reminder that the annual fall meeting will be on Monday evening, October 1st at Captain Nick's. We will gather around 5:30PM for cocktails and will order around 6:15 for dinner. Hope to see you all there. Please sign-up in the locker room so we can get an idea of how many will be attending.

I also want you to know that the Executive Board will be meeting on Monday, September 17th at 5:30 PM at Gaeghan's Pub. On the agenda will be a discussion on the Club Championship and President's Cup tournaments for next year. If anyone is interesting in joining us for dinner and the meeting please let me know so I can make reservations.

Hope to see a good turn out for Thursday's Texas Two Step tournament. Sign in by 8:15 am and tee off is at 8:30.

Thanks,
Sandy

7.29.07

Hi Ladies

Is it hot enough for you?!!!!
Remember to sign up to play on Thursday. Seeing we didn't play at Bangor last week ladies might have forgotten to stop by the club house to sign up. You can call or E-mail Mary Crawford by Tuesday night.

The tournament for this week is twofold ( Putter's Wild and Club Championship ).

Many of you pre-signed for our "Rally for the Cure" tournament on August 9th, this week I will have the actual sign up sheet which will include you adding your address so you can receive the magazine, Golf for Women. You will also need to pay your entry fee of $20.00 for this tournament either this week or next.

For those of you that missed the meeting explaining "Rally for the Cure" it is just a closest to the pin contest on hole number six. The Komen Fund supplies the gift for the winner and also golf balls that are given to each lady that keeps their tee shot on the green. This is a fund raiser for a very good cause. I hope that many of you will support this tournament.

Also, in honor of the Susan G. Komen foundation and the tradition of the color pink for breast cancer, I would like to see all of you wear pink on this day, August 9th.

It has been a long time since Bangor Muni ladies have participated in this event so let's make this a memorable one. Thanking you all in advance for supporting this.

See you Thursday - tone up those putter's, clean and polish them, you can win big money this week with good putting, especially those that participate in "Kathy's Putting Pool ."

Sandy

7.17.07

Hi Ladies

Please  sign up in the locker room by this Thursday if you plan on playing at Lucerne on thre 26th. Yoo also need to specify if you are walking or riding. Kathy Constantine needs to know these numbers in advance to give to them at Lucerne. If there is enough of us they will close the course and let us shot gun. They also need to know if they have enough carts.

Thanks

Will see you hopefully this week for our Nassau Tournament and our monthly meeting. I know that it is going to be difficult trying to get peolple together in a timely manner to hold our monthly meeting. Unfortunately, Brian said that we can't shot gun. So I guess I have to ask for your patience and to please try to hang around for the meeting. I will start it immediately when the last group comes into the grille. We need to finalize the Tee Cup plans. I understand that 40 ladies from BWGC have signed up to play, this is awesome.

See you on Thursday morning, please sign in around 7:30 and be ready to go by 8:00AM. I will check with Louise Shindler to see if there is anything special for our tournament. I would think that some kind of wild tropical prints would be in store.

7.5.07

Hi Ladies

Today was a disappointing day, we had 31 ladies signed up to play match play today and only 12 played. Yes, the weather was questionable, drizzling early but cleared up after about 6 holes. I do want to remind all of you that plan on playing in the tee cup that we will be playing if the weather is like it was this morning. The tee cup is a commitment, by both clubs, and we are committed to the days scheduled, August 14th and 15th.

We all still can use some practice in playing match play, we need to feel comfortable knowing how it works, what strategies we can use and how to beat PVCC. Next Thursday, July 12th, those ladies that have moved on to the next bracket will be definitely playing match play in the next round of the President's Cup. Anyone else that signs up to play on Thursday will have their name put in a hat and drawn out randomly for pairings for a match play game. I encourage everyone to play next Thursday for the practice of getting ready for PVCC. Remember, they are out to get the "VASE" back from us and we have invested in a beautiful display case hoping that it will remain at Bangor Muni.

Info on TEE CUP, remember, you have until July 13th to sign up for it and also, when you sign-up you must pay your $75.00. A check can be left in the pro shop, they have an envelop to put your check in.

If you have any questions please call or e-mail me.

Thanks
Sandy

7.2.07

Good afternoon ladies

We had a great day for our tournament last Thursday and a very informative meeting. For those of you that could not make it I just want to update you on a few things.

1. The Tee Cup, which will be held on Aug14th and 15th. The price for this event is $75.00. You can make checks payable to Brenda Crosby and leave them in the pro shop or give them to Brenda on Thursday. You will actually have until July 13th to sign-up and pay for this. We are sorry, but you can not sign-up after the 13th and also, once you pay for it, you are committed for the two days.

Your $75.00 entry fee gives you two rounds of golf, 1 at PVCC and 1 at Bangor Muni, you will have two luncheons, you will receive two gifts and you will receive a shirt, which cost $30.00. Carts will be an extra cost to those whom wish to reserve one. Please indicate when you sign-up if you will be riding.

Marilyn will be e-mailing us with any updates and the format information.

The other item is on July 26th we will be playing at Lucerne. We have a great deal for this day, it will cost you $30.00 for 18 holes of golf and a cart. There will be a sign-up sheet for this in the locker room. Hope you all can come. We are still checking in as to where lunch will be, we have had an offer to go to Louise Shindler's camp on Green Lake. She will confirm that as soon as possible.

Remember this Thursday, July 5th is our MATCH PLAY tournament. This means that you are automatically in the President's Cup tournament. We deccided that there will not be any other game played this day. I will go over how to put your dots on the score card on Thursday morning. It is very important and beneficial to you, if you plan on playing in the Tee Cup, to play this coming Thursday, July 5th.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July and see you on Thursday morning.

Sandy

6.26.07

Hi Ladies

Mary has sent you a reminder for this Thursday and I just want to remind you again. It is our June meeting and we will be discussing the Tee Cup Tournament and also where we want to play next month when the GBO is at the course. Hopefully, everyone will be at the meeting.

I just want to remind everyone to keep up the good job at being at the course early and signed in and ready to go by 7:45. We have been doing a great job at this and we are able to make announcements and get to our tees pretty much on time. With an average of thirty ladies every week, this is very important.

So, remember to wear red, white and blue for Thursday. See you all then.

Thanks,
Sandy

5.31.07

Hi Ladies

We had a great day golfing today and a fun tournament, if you couldn't make, we are sorry. We also had our meeting for May.

There was a big discussion about the shirts for this years Tea Cup, Cyndi Whalen is in charge and brought in some samples. We have pretty much narrowed the choices down to two. At our June meeting we will be voting on the shirt. In the meantime you can let Cyndi know what size you will need.

This is to let you know that the Good Samaritan Tournament is to be held on Friday, June 22nd. We had voted last year to sponsor a team by paying the entry fee and if there was enough interested and we had two teams, then we would pay half of the entry fees. So if anybody wants to be on a team you must let Janice White know by Sunday evening.

Thanks
Sandy

5.17.07

Good morning ladies, it really isn't a good one seeing we had to cancel our Ladies Day. We waited 7 months to get out on the links and Mother Nature will not cooperate, what a bummer.

Our calendar for the season is ready and if you want to preview it go to Liz's web site: _www.liz44.com_ (http://www.liz44.com) I hope you all like it, we have added some new fun tournaments.

Anyone that has offered to bring packaged snacks for our WMSGA State Day on the 29th, please drop these items off at the golf course by Monday, the 28th. you may leave them in the ladies lockerroom. Jan Skagg's will be setting up the lockerroom on Monday night, she will clean it and put fresh flower's in it. This lady takes such pride in our lockerroom and is responsible for the decorations as well as the thorough cleaning of it. We have had so many nice compliments from the ladies that have visited and played our course and it is all because of Jan.

Now that I have told you all this I am going to ask you to help me thank Jan in a special way. For those of you that do not really know Jan or anything about her private life she is at a beautiful time of her life. She has been a widow for over 25 years and now has a man in her life and is very happy. They have bought a house together and have just moved in. This is the first house that Jan has ever had, she has lived in apartments all her adult life. I thought it would be nice if we could present Jan with a check, as a house warming gift, so she can decorate her new home.

I am asking anyone that wants to contribute to put your contribution in an envelop and get it to me or leave it off at the pro shop with my name on the envelop. If we can collect this by May 30th, I will be able to give it to her at our May 31st meeting. I want to thank you all in advance because I know how much we all appreciate all the things Jan does for our club, she has been our decorating guru for all our special tournaments and luncheons.

Thank you,

Sandy Meehan
President
